For the 2016-17 Academic Year, CTLE has organized TLLM (Teach Less - Learn More) as a Faculty Learning Community focused on using learner-centered pedagogies and technologies to improve student learning in UM courses. Often a small change in pedagogy will improve student engagement and learning while saving instructors time and effort. In TLLM we will explore evidence-based pedagogies that do this. The purpose of the learning community is to help UM academic staff be more effective teachers and enhance student learning.

TLLM will meet on a regular basis, throughout the 2016-17 academic year to share and discuss articles, book chapters, websites, reports, etc. regarding effective teaching practices. TLLM community will begin in Oct. till the end of the Spring Semester. Each member of the learning community is expected to attend the regular meetings and contribute to the work of the group. Members who consistently contribute to the group will receive a citation documenting their participation.

The advantages of being part of TLLM is that it provides a structured environment for multi-disciplinary discussions with colleagues from across campus on issues of common interest, an the opportunity to solve a teaching challenge and to develop your own teaching and learning. Each member will receive a copy of Small Teaching by James Lang.
