The course of Business Law provides an introduction to Macau Law and then focuses on company law, as regulated in the 1999 Commercial Code with the latest amendments.

The study of company law focuses on the two most important types of companies: private companies and public companies. The treatment of company law strives to be exhaustive, providing a complete account of this important area of the law.
Learning Outcomes:
(1) Identify and explain the main characteristics of the legal system of Macau and its differences from those systems of Hong Kong and mainland China.
(2) Characterize the main features of a company in light of the legislation of Macau and relate that with discussions in other jurisdictions of the Civil and Common Law. Focus is given to the ideas of separate legal personality of companies and limited liability.
(3) Identify the most important types of companies in Macau (private and public companies), differentiating them and examining in detail the legal issues concerning their formation, structure, management, decision-making, and dissolution.
