This course is an overview of various themes in the studies of critical thinking and philosophical logic. We begin with critical thinking topics such as: argumentation theory, logical fallacies, conspiracy theorizing, and scientific reasoning. We then turn to the domain of formal logic, which is the study of the formal features of deductive arguments. Specifically, we will focus on the basic features of so-called deductive arguments, learning how to translate English-language arguments into formal-logical ones, and to construct proofs of the validity of many different argument types.
