This course has two objectives: (1) Introduce the key technologies, business models, and

companies of the startup fintech landscape; and (2) Introduce you to the financing lifecycle of

high-growth new ventures (startups).

The world of global tourism and entertainment, banking and financial services, as well as logistics and supply chain is changing rapidly with the emergence of start‐up financial technologies, commonly referred to as FinTech, that are not only empowering or disrupting the status quo, but are shaping almost all the services industries.  This course will discuss the scope of FinTech and how they changed the way people live, how companies operate, and how government regulate. This course will provide students with the latest empowering and practical knowledge on FinTech enabling them to understand some FinTech changes taking place currently and the trends that will impact different industries in the future.

This class is very applied and intended for students who are potentially interested in founding or investing in early-stage startups in the FinTech sector. Guest speakers will be invited to share what is happening “off the campus” from both the VC and the entrepreneur perspectives. What are included in the FinTech?  ABCD by WeBank or BASIC by AntFinance? Or the one that defined by your group that based on the project that you choose to work, like TourTech, RegTech, or GameTech.  We will also cover MetaVerse in this course, which is quite important to Macau.
