This course introduces the most important basic theories that construct the foundation for the practice of Chinese medicine, including concepts taken from ancient Chinese naturalistic philosophy like qiyin-yang, and the five phases, as well as other concepts specific to Chinese medicine. The integration of scientific, technological and managerial aspects is essential to address the global challenges in quality and compliance of Chinese medicines to national and international requirements. Strategies for quality control, new drug discovery and development including preclinical and clinical trial, and regulatory and commercialization of Chinese medicine will be discussed and explained.
