This
course will introduce students to the use of big data in education. In
particular, this course
will discuss several large educational datasets including the Program for
International Student
Assessment (PISA), Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), and the National Educational Longitudinal Study (ELS). Students will be familiarized
with the different research questions and evidence-based approaches that could be addressed
by critical use of the big data.
