This course provides students with theoretical and practical aspects of private wealth management. A number of cases are used to supplement discussions of the theories and practices. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

understand private wealth clients’ common investment goals and constraints;

understand effects of capital market expectation and private wealth clients’ objectives and constraints on asset allocation;

understand the process of identifying private wealth clients’ needs and propose an investment policy statement (IPS) to address the needs;

discuss and evaluate alternative methods of asset allocation and performance evaluation; and   

discuss the impact of behavioral finance on investment decisions and apply the knowledge to asset allocation.
